Echo by Crusher-P (Jubyphonic cover) with Hawkeye
(I feel I’m posting a lot of these, I’m sorry if these are getting annoying. They’re really fun and quite cathartic. Also I was unsure if I should have them together or separate)
It was a late night and sleep wasn’t coming to Hawkeye any time soon. The memories of the whitecoats plaguing her. She didn’t want to bother the Old Man or her brother, they needed their rest, no sense in all of them having to stay awake.
The clock stopped ticking forever ago
How long have I been up I don't know
I can't get a grip but I can't let go
There wasn't anything to hold on to though There’d been countless times Hawkeye felt like everything around was slipping out of her paws or even she herself was slipping away. And there was nothing she could do about, nothing except fall further and further into whatever hellscape her mind subjected her to.
Why can't I see? Why can't I see? All the colors, that you see? Please, can I be? Please, can I be? Colorful and free? At times it felt like her world was void of colors. Trapped even. Others cat who didn’t grow up in that lab seemed to be more jovial, more vibrant... more free. It didn’t mean they didn’t have struggles like her, the Old Man was proof of that, Oneeye as well. But even they managed to act far more normal than her on their bad days. She looked down at herself in the water before slashing her cybernetic limb down into the water with an angry yell before placing her front paws over her head.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! CAN SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE?! WHY I'M SWITCHING FASTER THAN THE CHANNELS ON TV?! I'M BLACK THEN I'M WHITE! NO SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT! MY ENEMY'S INVISIBLE! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIGHT! THE TREMBLING FEAR, IS MORE THAN I CAN TAKE! WHEN I'M UP AGAINST! THE ECHO IN THE MIRROR!ECHO! ECHO! It was like her mind was waging a war against her; forcing her to challenge the world around her, the cats she met, even herself at times. She let out a small whine as one of her headaches began to make itself known. Why did this happen to her? Was she going to blackout again?
I'm gonna burn my house down into an ugly black, I'm gonna run away now and never look back. I'm gonna burn my house down into an ugly black, I'm gonna run away now and never look back. I'm gonna burn my house down into an ugly black, I'm gonna run away now and never look back. I'm gonna burn my house down, into an ugly black, I'm gonna run away now and never look back I'm gonna burn my house down and never look back. And never look back. And never look back! There were days she wished she wasn’t a cat if only so that she could burn down that miserable lab with the whitecoats in it! It was one thing that those dastards hurt herself, her siblings, even some of her friends, but the fact that they took Palehawk from her, the fact they took away the children’s innocence, her Ravenkit’s sense of safety! She found herself screaming in anger as she slashed at her reflection again. She couldn’t keep them safe! She couldn’t save Palehawk! She was too weak! Another slash at her reflection with another shriek of anger.

“I hate ya! Ya pat’etic weakling! I hate ya!” She screamed at her reflection with every slash at the water. Her screams soon turned to cries as her headache grew more painful. She had to lay down now, she felt herself slipping again, fading into unconsciousness. The black shecat rose her paws after a while before looking at her reflection again. Death offered a small smile to it.
“Ya are nae weak, Hawkeye. Ya may hate yerself, but y’are loved by your family.” She turned around and walked back to the camp the Old Man and the others were. It was at times like this she wished Nightstorm was here. The tom was a great help and support outside, which helped Hawkeye more than she could. The poor girl didn’t even know she was there. That part didn’t bother her that much, it was fine if Hawk didn’t know she was here since there was outside help for her. She wouldn’t be alone. When she walked in she saw Silverfang awake.
“Couldn’t sleep?” She heard him ask. She nodded her head before going over and hugging the older tom. She normally didn’t get this emotional with the others, she left those to Hawkeye. “Is everything okay, Death?”
“Nae at the moment, but they will be. Can we stay by you tonight?”
“Of course. What do you want me to tell Hawkeye when she comes back?”
“Tell her ya woke up and saw she wasn’t there. Ya heard her screamin’ out of camp and went to see what was wrong. Ya found her outside camp unconscious and carried her back ta camp.”
“Alright. Let’s get some rest.” He spoke before laying down. The younger shecat curled up next to her host’s surrogate father before falling asleep with Silverfang following afterwards.
